While many regard National Wildlife Day as no more remarkable than hundreds of other holidays, it is a perfect opportunity to appreciate and protect Georgia’s diverse and engaging wildlife. Whether visiting one of Georgia’s nearly fifty state parks, volunteering, donating, signing a petition, or learning about the vital species that keep our planet prospering, take the time to appreciate wildlife this Labor Day weekend!
For Lassiter students looking for service hours, the following organizations serve as valuable resources and offer opportunities to get involved in our community:
National Wildlife Federation: provides many international and local initiatives to promote wildlife conservation, find an event near you to get involved!
Georgia Department of Natural Resources
Wildlife Resources Division: Volunteering: Learn about local wildlife resources and volunteer. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is offering incentives (drum cooler, phone charger, or camping seats) to its volunteers of 50 or more hours.
State Parks and Historic Sites: Visit one of Georgia’s state parks, or attend a local event!
World Wildlife Fund: an international organization that supports the conservation of endangered wildlife, raises awareness about threatened species, and supports policy combating wildlife crime. You can support WWF through donations and adoptions.
