Marvel’s Avengers:Endgame ticket sales had already defeated box-office ticket sales on multiple platforms the day sales opened. “Endgame” presale tickets went on the market as of Tuesday April 2nd and exceeded first-hour and first-day records on both Atom Tickets and Fandango. A week later, “Endgame” did something even more impressive. In its first week, the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sold nearly twice as many tickets on Atom Tickets as Aquaman, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Avengers: Infinity War and Captain Marvel combined. However, the ticket sales might have been even better if the fervent demand for them had not completely wrecked multiple online ticket outlets. Users on AMC, Fandango, and Atom experienced issues, including error messages and glitches that resulted in canceled orders. Many could argue that these sites should have seen this coming, especially because they probably knew that Marvel would drop a lovely “Endgame teaser” along with the opening of ticket sales, but it could also be argued that nobody could have seen this coming since it broke a plethora of ticket sale records. The one roadblock Endgame will have to overcome is its three hour run time, which will limit the amount of screenings the film can have each day. Expect theaters to be playing the film on a continuous loop on opening weekend.
