As the end of the school year approaches, many students are experiencing summer fever and possibly senioritis is this beloved two month break gets nearer. In these last few months testing and cram sessions are in full swing. Therefore, that means stress levels become higher than ever and it can be hard to deal with. Here are some ways to conquer end of the year stress.
First, change your perspective. Instead of seeing the end of the school year as a long stretch you have to somehow scrape by to get to, look at is as a finish line or a goal to accomplish. In most cases, students find it more difficult to find motivation for school work and often slack off; remember that school is not officially over until May 22nd.
Next, find time to slow down and regroup, it may be a simple task but it can be very beneficial. During the day if it feels like everything is piling on at once, stop, breathe, and take a moment for yourself. Soon you will find that this decreases the feeling of your brain scrambling and once you have got your mindset back in order, it will feel a lot easier to deal with what’s in front of you.
Calendars can be a great thing to ease stress at the end of the year. This allows you to have a clear list of the things you need to accomplish and can also help with time management as well as procrastination. If you know when an assignment is due and when you need to complete it, checking it off your list can feel like a huge achievement.
Finally, just remember to ask for help. If you are having issues with a certain subject or just have too much on your plate, ask a teacher. Confiding in students can also be beneficial because they know exactly what you are going through. Asking students or teachers for help with school work or even dealing with it all will definitely not be a waste of time.
